Q: I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.2 liter motor. I would like to replace the chip. I have already installed a less restrictive exhaust and installed a new cold air intake. How hard is it to install a chip and is there any reprogramming involved?
A: Replacing the vehicle's chip is easy. This is a swap out chip that requires you to remove the vehicle's factory chip and replace it with the aftermarket chip. This is a plug-in chip that requires no reprogramming what so ever. Hypertech also makes a Power Programmer III that plugs into your vehicles diagnostic port. With the programmer, you simply answer the prompted questions and it will automatically recalibrate your vehicle's computer.
