This K&N air filter provides less resistance to air flow...not by much, but when the miles add up, it makes a difference. The only disadvantage is that it takes about 48 hours for my filter to dry completely after washing it.

You might as well spend the extra money for the intake. You will save on gas in the long run if you do. It is good if you are not looking for a HP gain, but a cleaner engine. I had one on my 98 silverado 5.7 before I put an intake on it. It is basically the same filter that comes with the intake. If you take the cover off the intake box and put this filter, you will notice a little more horsepower, but not as much as the entire kit adds.

You can tell a difference on low end torque and about 1-2 mpg more. I have installed one of thses on every truck i owned and it has all been the same.

I've installed these filters on all my vehicles and I've always noticed a difference. Along with a Tornado Air System and Tonneau Cover, I get 19.5 mpg highway w/ my '06 Silverado Crew Cab.
