Another Dakota Guy.
Posted 10/18/2007 by JWagner
Good for the money, but I have personally had the same problems as noted by customers with condensation in the light bar. I would personally recommend two things. First is, if you get this, seal the ends of it with some silicon, which you could get at any local auto/hardware store. Second, is the route I chose, which would be spending just a little more and getting the Fire and Ice light bar, it has a Lifetime Warranty, and is sealed alot better. I have had to warranty a few of the all red light bars, but the Fire and Ice has been perfect a year and a half.

Good for the Money
Posted 6/5/2007 by truck23
This is an excellent product for the money. My friends love the way it works. I just put an extra layer of silicone on the outside edge of my lightbar to ensure no water would ever get in it. I've had mine for about a year now and have yet to run into any issues with it.

LED Light Bar for Dodge Dakota
Posted 7/5/2007 by ealflyer
Looks great on my 2000 Dodge Dakota. Measure across the TAILGATE only, not the width of your truck. Installation is easy with tape. Uses no screws. The Dakota has a 57" tailgate. You can use a 60" but you have to cut 3" off of one side of the light. You will lose 3 lights but the light bar extends all across your tailgate. Cutting does not affect the light bar in any way. Be careful if you have a rear bumper. You 'll have to install in the crease of the tail gate so as to not hit the bumper with your light. Installation took me :20 including the cutting. Looks great day or night!

Awsome
Posted 7/8/2007 by TheHooks15
I had originally purchased one of these but then decided to upgrade to the fire and ice led version, had nothing but problems with it and had gone through 3 of them. I had hardwired it and it wouldn't work properly even with following the directions. I think I will go back to this one as I never had a problem. Although both are an awsome product I just prefer the older stlye to the one with the reverse function.

In the past 18 months I have purchased 4 LED light bars for my Suburban and Trailblazer. Eash one has got condensation in them and fail to work after time. Currently the one on the Suburban only works on the left side and has a lot of condensation on the inside. The one on my TB is functional but has considerable condensation so expect it to malfunction shortly.Since this has the same problem with all four items I would suggest you have a defect in the item. I would not recommend this bar to anyone until the condensation problem is fixed.Withb shipping charges and cost for the four bars I still don't have a functional bar after a investment over $175.00.

I put added silicone on each end and a layer across the top of the bar. Added a pigtail to trailer light wires (under the truck and behind the bumper)---- mounted bar and plugged it in. Avoids need for hard wiring and leaves original equipment trailer light plug available for use as needed

60" LED light bar

I bought mine in Frb 07. It already has 4 light burned out. This is not good. I called to ask about a replacement, of course it only has a 90 day guaranty.

INSTALLED ON TRAILER RAMP
Posted 10/11/2007 by Mr_Geo
I'm a landscaper and wanted to let drivers behind me know if I was braking or turning, particularly tailgaters. I have a trailer with brake/turn signals that are low to the ground and tailgaters can't see what I'm going to do. My trailer gate has "L" beams that run vertically so I drilled holes through them and installed the LED Light bar at the top of my ramp. If you plan on doing the same, know that you will need to buy a metal hole saw, extra wiring, and possibly an extra 5-pin plug to hook up to your vehicle's wiring. The LED Light bar has worked perfectly, even with all of the jarring that trailers get from bouncing over potholes. I highly recommend people using trailers to augment their lighting with a LED Light Bar. The LED will not burn out from vibration like typical incandescent lights so you have added assurance that drivers know what you are doing at all times. I purchased a 60" Light Bar as well, and plan to install on my new truck for added assurance that those behind me know what I am doing.

Nice add on
Posted 12/6/2007 by nickytrucks
Light bar gives a very nice look to the the truck. A nice add on & simple to install. Just plug it in first to your trucks power source first before installing to make sure the light works. As luck would have mine had half the LED's out & I had to return it.( VERY ANNOYING ) This should be checked by the company first before sending it to you. But still a nice add on.

cheap plug
Posted 1/2/2008 by thedipstick
The plug that comes with the bar is cheap and I had to spread both (I bought two of them) of the plugs prongs out a bit so that they would make contact. I at first thought they were broken because one side was out but it was just loose. But now after 6 weeks of using one of the bars 4 lights went out. I bought the second bar for a replacement just in case one went out down the road.

I supprised my husband with this at Christmas. He saw the box and thought it was a chrome bug guard. He passed a-way on the 7th of this month and It's been a runing joke with the family.

I purchased this item and had the same problems as other customers who purchased this product, condensation getting inside and product failing to work right after the warranty is up. Stylin should STOP selling this product! This product would be awesome if it was more durable and had a good seal to keep moisture out. I have bought 2, too many. With the economy the way it is, people wish not to waste money on BULLSH#T! You can do better Stylin! You owe to your consumers to offer good, quality products that last! It does not seem to me that the staff at Stylin reads the customer reviews or they would stop selling this product or any other product that is not worthy of being sold to us, the consumers.

this is my second light bar, it looks great on my s10 but, i have the same problem, moisture inside the bar, but i think i can correct this like the other guy did, extra silicone on the edges, but, i should not have to do this at 50.00 a pop.

LED Light Bar 60"
Posted 2/16/2008 by 1derful6
Purchased this about 9 months ago and it worked for about 4 months. The problem was condensation. Lord knows how it got in an allegedly sealed unit. Installation was not difficult but overall reliability is poor. Save your money.

These lights are pieces of junk!!! I bought two sets, one for tailgate and the second I mounted under the back window. Condensation was a problem from the first truck wash. The set under window quit working on the right side after the first frost, approx. 90 days after installation. It wasn't much after this that the wires going to this set started smoking.[Noticed this while pumping gas]!! The second set lasted about another 3 months before taking a crap. They looked very nice when they worked, but were a waste of over $1oo bucks.

Posted 3/11/2008 by hornet
Great idea - el cheapo design - on my 2nd one and even put silicone on both ends and it still gets water in it at the car wash - You guys need to improve the casing on this product. Why there aren't rubber plugs on the ends are beyond me.

Very easy to install although I would like to see the hard wire directions included with this kit. It says they are but they are not. This is my second as the first I had quit working. This one has silicone on each end so seems the problem is attempting to be fixed. Shall see. Otherwise love the look.

Read the reviews, followed the recommendations of others, installed in 20 minutes start to finish (and that was with removing the tailgate), and it worked like a dream. Great buy! Looks awesome! Highly recommend.

Horrible Quality
Posted 11/5/2008 by rebattim
I am glad that I bought this on the day it was only $25 because it is only worth maybe $10. I plugged it in to test before installing and it appeared to work, after about 20 minutes 4 of the LEDs stopped working, they now only work intermittently. Also in a week there is already lots of condensation inside and there are rust spots forming on the inside of the plastic. It's not worth the shipping to send it back and get a new one that will be just as junk so I think I will have to open it up to dry it out, try to fix the LED's that are broken, and put it back together with double the silicon. I am very disappointed with this product but I guess you get what you pay for.

Installation was easy but I would suggest removing the plastic pieces with the tape and just screwing in on for a more secure fit. Other than that, I was really pleased with the look of it.

Easy to install, looks great and it still works after having installed for 3 weeks. Package was damaged during shipment but contents was ok. Don't like the fact that when you are on brakes and have turn signal on the side of the signal goes off instead of blink. Now after 6 mos some lights have quit. Could be from damage during shipping.

I bought the 49" light bar, it would not fit at the bottom of the tailgate and I didnt want to modify the bumper so I cut the mounting plastic off and took double sided tape and attached the light in the bottom body groove of the tailgait and it looks good at night. I put extra silicone on the ends but somehow moisture still got inside. If your looking for a cheap way to add a different look this is a way to go but remember you get what you pay for.

Junk
Posted 9/29/2009 by molson13
This product was easy to install, but after a good rain, 4 LEDs worked intermittently, now only a couple months later, only a few LEDs still function, approximately half of the passenger side. Might last longer in the desert climate. but junk in areas that get rain.

I had issues with some of the led's not wanting to work all the time. I contacted Stylin Trucks and they sent a new one no problem. I have had no issues with the new one and its been about a month. It looks great and easy to install, and also great customer service. Thanks
