Hard to install turn signal doesnt work right when the turn signal and brake lights are on at the same time and has no running lights. Definatly not worth the money
Stylin Trucks response posted on 10/4/2007
We spoke with the manufacturer and here is what they had to say: There are a few ways that the bar can be installed depending on the vehicle. On some trucks, the turn signal and the brake light will use the same bulb. It sounds like this is the case with this gentleman. In this scenario, he should have wired the turn signal lead to the front turn signals and the brake light lead to his third brake light. This will correct his problem and get his bar working properly. The directions state this, but he may not have read the instructions for trucks with this lighting scenario.

Great addition to my 99 Chevy Suburban
|
Posted 10/4/2007 by kgfann
This item is NOT plug-n-play. So if you are not comfortable with running wires then do as the instructions say and have a professional install it for you. Although it is NOT pre-wired for "running" lights the instruction are very simple to follow from beginning to end. If you decide to do the install or have a pro do it you will love the outcome just as I did.

Same as the guy before. Having a hard time with the wire installation. On an 06 Silverado, I have two separate bulb for the directional and brake. When hooked up per their instructions... the directionals work and look really cool... until you step on the brake and the now the opposite blinker blinks. Then I hooked up the front directional like a plasmaglow service rep sugested. That fixed the blinkers but, now there is no brake light at all. Have not tried hooking up the brake to the third brake light but... this is a little absurd. Also there is nothing in the instruction that state all these tricks. Are they for real?

This is a awasome light "after" you get it wired. Not plug and play friendly, I Can't belive there's not a easier way to wire this in this day and age. This is can be a wiring nightmare for some, the two diods they send in order for you to run it with your parking lights have to be soider together, its the weak link in the hole wiring. Have fun!!

Neat Add-On
|
Posted 10/26/2007 by 05Rado
I found this product easy to install. However, I dont know if every customer has the same mechanical inclination that I have. Like the instruction say if you dont the ability to do the install yourself, have it installed by a pro. The only major issue that I was unaware of, when using your hazzard lights the light bar turns on the red lights only. According to the manufacturer this was a intentional design as to keep it from looking like an emergency vehicle. Other than that little blip I really like this product.

Looks Good but HORRIBLE to install
|
Posted 11/1/2007 by bobbyjcastillo
Product looks excellent, installed it on a 2007 GMC Sierra New Body. I tried to install myself and failed miserably due to one wire taillights. Had to be professionally installed and took over 8 hours to run wires and install. Tried to contact Plasmaglow for tech help and after six calls I still never talked with Tech Supp. After professional install according to Plasmaglow instructions, bar looks great but brake lights do not work, the installer tried to hook up the running lights and brake lights but brakes refuse to work, its a mystery. Overall i am happy with the way the bar looks but it cost alot of money to get it done. Concept is great but there has to be a better design for wiring.

The wiring instructions leave a great deal to be desired. It requires 5 wires to work. One for the left turn signal, one for the right turn signal, one for the break, one for A+ voltage (constant) and one for ground.
I contacted the company asking for clarification on the wire schematic provided, I received an email that looked like it was written by a third grader instructing me to run two wires to the front of my truck and attach to my turn signals. I responded to this with a message asking if they were joking? They responded back and repeated the first message and also instructed me to run a wire to my third break light. This is on a Dodge 2500 RAM.
For a couple of dollars more, they could have added a logic circuit to the bar and done everything properly. It's a really poor design.

Stylin.. try before you sell
|
Posted 11/2/2007 by charliesfnm
Stylin, before you sell a product or after so much negative feedback.. as the company selling the product.. you should have the company supplying you with this light bar create a fix or refund us all. I called your support and all I was told is that it should work if I followed the instructions...there has to be a better answer coming from customer support?

Since you are the distributor of this kit, why would you not back your customers in this situation? It is a clear cut case of unclear instructions and a not so well engineered piece. If the manufacture took the extra time to add another module or circut board, this would have eliminated so many issue's with installs. Instead you fault the customer for not reading the instructions all the way through. Why would you recommend to have to wire up to the front of a vehicle a REAR lightbar to get it to work? I know the answer why, but it's ridiculous! It is quite obvious this piece was not thought all the way through in the engineering process. Time for someone from Plasmaglow to step up to the plate on this issue!

Great Addition
|
Posted 2/3/2008 by BlakeFabian
This light bar is extremely attractive on the back side of any truck but it is extremely difficult to install. I had to run wires all around my truck and up into the engine to get everything to work right. It took about 4 hours but it was worth it! If you purchase this, I recommend taking it to a professional to have it installed. Great Product and it will make a great addition to any truck if you have the patience to install it! Thanks StylinTrucks!

I replaced a fire & ice bar with the scanning one. I had the same problem as the rest but after I finally followed the instructions and wired the turn signals to the _front turn lights it works perfectly. Also note the center brake light can be tapped on the trailer brake controller which is wired to the brake switch anyways. I LOVE IT AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE.

The Butch
The wiring instructions leave a great deal to be desired.
You have to be comfortable with running wires then do as the instructions say
even though the light bar instruction say discard any diodes or resisters that come
with any other instruction, Like the E-Z Wiring kit.
The two diodes they send in order for you to run brake lights with your parking
lights on the same wire have to be solider together, its the weak link in the hole wiring.
But if you have a piece of treated wood 3' long, 2" wide, 3/4" thick, Route out 1/4" deep 1' wide
make a lid 1/4 thick, Do all your soldiering and use heat shrink on all three ends. Silicone
this coffin together and my weak link went away.
I don't know if every customer has the same mechanical ability that I have.
Product looks excellent, installed it on a 2005 Ford F-150, If you Buy this light Bar for this truck get ready to flip it over, take off the bumper cover, drill two hole in your new bar and cover, small screw & nut, reinstall cover and Bar, Reverse the left, right single wires. Look I installed it, But it's not for A Ford 05 F-150.
There's a safety pin under the right side of the tail gate that keeps you from installing it any other way.
This is a awesome Light Bar "after" you get it wired. This light bar is extremely attractive, but extremely difficult to install on Ford F-150.

NICE LIGHT

Posted 1/8/2009 by superduty73
AFTER READING THE OTHER REVIEWS I GOT THE LIGHT AND SAW IT WAS GOING TO BE A BIG CHORE TO HOOK UP. I ORDERED THE 4 PIN WIRING ADAPTER AND USED THAT AND IT WAS A PLEASURE TO HOOK UP.LIGHT AND ALL FUNCTIONS WORK GREAT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING THE ADAPTER. I WOULD HAVE HAD TO PULL OUT EVERY LIGHT IN THE TRUCK TO HOOK THIS THING UP.BUT NOW THAT ITS DONE I LOVE THE LIGHT.

Wiring instruction where not the greatest, fortunately I'm not a complete rock, and could figure it out (it's not exactly rocket science)(only took me 2 hours). Once installed it looked great, and I am overall very very pleased, and would recommend this product to anyone that want's a great looking light bar, and wouldn't mind taking some time to figure out the installation.
