Nice Touch
Written on December 26, 2007 08:01:07 PM

These are nice little touches to the interior of a truck, and one of the easiest to put on! The hood release plate goes on with 3M automotive tape, while the brake release plate is put on with two screws. I personally use some automotive glue on the back of these plates for added security, because 3M tape will rot and fall off eventually.

Looks Great, but Installation Hardware is lacking

It looks great; made extremely well, nice shiny finish, but come on, the screws are TOO SHORT to go through the aluminum mats, through the carpet, through the floorboard, and underneath the truck :( I had to look everywhere for screws that are long enough, but I settled on using velcro fasteners underneath the mats to keep them from moving.

Not Complete

The description states "cover up that ---- cruise control...well this kit doesn't include the cruise control billet cover! And you see the photograph that shows the conical-shaped knob? That doesn't go over the cruise control! I'd have returned this kit if it weren't for a buddy who needs the conical-shaped knob for his vehicle. The only thing this kit that is useful for my truck is the hazard button and tilt-steering lever, that's all. The finish is so-so.

Great Fit for 1990 Chevy Silverado Sportside
Written on December 04, 2007 01:21:26 AM

A well-packaged, well-equipped kit that fits my truck perfectly. The brake pedal needs to have two holes drilled, no problem. The parking brake pedal only needs one hole drilled, and the gas pedal doesn't need to be drilled at all...just take out the gas pedal assembly, put it in a vise, remove the retaining washer, slide out the plastic factory pedal and install the aluminum billet pedal; re-install and the whole thing looks great! Comes with allen screws and lock nuts for a super-secure install. I highly recommend this kit.

Interferes with cover piece
Written on November 28, 2007 05:29:02 PM

It's machined so that your factory cover fits inside the billet piece, but it interferes with how the master cylinder cover holds onto the master cylinder! The cap can no longer hold itself in place, and that is not safe. I had a hard time trying to remove the cover from this billet piece, that it got damaged. I had to buy a new master cylinder cover.

Fits Perfectly, Looks Great!
Written on November 28, 2007 12:08:21 AM

There are not a lot of accessories for my 1990 Chevy Sportside (stepside), but here is one that fits perfectly. I bought it to replace a cheap, dinged-up aluminum tailgate cap that can't take the banging. The only negative thing about this tailgate cap is the use of double-sided tape that will deteriorate over time and lose its adhesive properties. I applied "Automotive Goop" to the areas that do not have double-sided tape, so that when the tape does wear off, the glue doesn't.

Improves the Tailgate's Appearance

It looks and feels like a quality-made product, and it's made out of stainless steel. It sure looks better than the black factory finish! I'm a little doubtful about the double-sided tape that's supplied to mount this product, so I applied some glue called "Automotive Goop" to the surfaces that don't have double-sided tape, for when the tape adhesive deteriorates.

Quick Bling

It's made of plastic like the original factory oil cap, but this one shines like real chrome. Good addition to the overall bling of a show truck.

This K&N air filter provides less resistance to air flow...not by much, but when the miles add up, it makes a difference. The only disadvantage is that it takes about 48 hours for my filter to dry completely after washing it.

Classic Ahooga Sound
Written on November 22, 2007 03:07:13 AM

I think the electric motor inside this horn is rated for 6 to 8 volts, because after I hooked it up, it would just scream. What I did was put a 1.5 ohm, 16 watt resistor in series to the positive (+) side of the wiring, and that made all the difference in the world! After I installed the 1.5 ohm resistor, the sound it gave off was the classic "ah-hoooo-gahhh!!" sound that you hear out of Model A's and Model T's. |
