2006 Stylin' Trucks' Sweepstakes Vehicle #1
Superchargers, lift kits, lowering kits, big wheels and tires, flamed paint jobs – when the Stylin’ Trucks build team gets its hands on a truck, you can be sure that it’s going to stand out! That’s always been the case in the past, and as the old saying goes, “history repeats itself.” This week we’ll start work on our first sweepstakes truck of 2006, a brand-spanking-new Ford F-150. And when we say “new,” we mean “base-model new.” Stylin’ Trucks has two warehouses full of truck accessories to take this off-the-shelf Ford to Stylin’ stardom.
This baby has factory sixteen-inch steel wheels and a stereo that won’t play our build team anthem CD, “Scorpions – Love at First Sting.” Do you know why it won’t play our CD? Because the truck has no CD player, but not for long! Before you know it, we’ll be rockin’ this truck like a hurricane!
It also has this silly pin stripe going down the side that says “Special Edition.” As we stood around glossy-eyed, thinking about the possibilities for this truck, someone said, “What’s so ‘special’ about it?” We guessed that it was probably the pin stripe. What’s more special than a vehicle that tells you how special it actually is? As you can probably guess, we’re losing the pin stripe.
Enough about the truck in its current, boring state; let’s discuss the future. Among many things planned, this week we’ll be lowering the truck. We can’t talk specifics yet (hey, this isn’t even an official announcement), but an inside source on the build team leaked that some Belltech boxes near the build area might have something to do with this truck. Also, an anonymous source told us that Mike the Mechanic received a call from LSD Doors and that some Lambo-style door hinges might be on the way. We’ll release more info as we have it.Past Stylin’ Trucks sweepstakes vehicles have been pretty awesome. First, there was the 2004 Silverado that we partnered up with Goodmark to build. It had a cowl hood, flamed paint job, 20” wheels and all sorts of goodies. Oh, and the guy that won it was just 18 years old. (Joshua Stocks from Michigan).
The next two sweepstakes trucks were in 2005: a 2005 Chevy Tahoe and a 2005 Ford F-150. Goodmark came on board again and assisted with the Tahoe in the way of a cowl hood, a Goodmark airdam and its trademark flamed paint job. Magnacharger also hooked us up with a sweet supercharger that took the timid 4.8L and turned it into a tire smoking monster.
The F150’s suspension lift was done by Pro Comp, and Roush came out to install its new supercharger setup. This thing was a mean, lifted, 4x4 beast. You ever see four tires smoke at once? The Tahoe went to a gentleman from Missouri by the name of Robert Hunt, and at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, we gave the F150 away to Luke Telford, a Marine from California.
Stay tuned and keep your eyes peeled for the official sweepstakes announcement (Coming soon!) as well as the first of the build articles on our truck, a 2006 F150 “Special Edition.”
