Hot LED Accessories for your truck or SUV

The decision to accessorize your truck or SUV with the hot look of LED truck accessories is certainly an easy one. What's there not to love about the long-lasting life of an LED bulb?

Truth be told, nobody knows exactly how much longer LEDs last than regular bulbs, but there are still LEDs in computers from the 70s that are happily blinking away with no ill effects. Suffice to say, having one in your truck or SUV headlight would go a long way.

Less Power
LEDs use less power than their incandescent counterparts and produce more output. So manufacturers can cram more of them in - for a brilliantly bright light.

The Cool Factor
LEDs are the latest in lighting technology, in other words, they look cool as hell. Remember back to the first time when you saw the awesomely brilliant lights on the back of a Cadillac CTS fire up, it was a sight to behold, right? In less than an instant the whole tail light bursted to brightness and you were blown away. Now, you could be "that guy" when you're cruising down the street.

Light Bars

LED light bars are relatively new on the truck accessory market. Basically, the LED Light Bar is either a 48-inch or 60-inch long strip of LEDs that fits in the dead space between the bottom of your tailgate and rear bumper. This can serve as a brake light, a running light and even a blinker with your turn signals.

Installation can be as simple as plugging the light bar's plug into your trailer connection and using the supplied adhesive to attach the light bar. The light bars can be installed with sheet metal screws for permanent mounting, and some bars need to be hard-wired into your wiring harness.

Tail Lenses

Upgrading the tail lenses on your truck (or an upgrade of any kind) is always a good idea. They're affordable, they look great, and let's face it, you know you want them.

So why deprive yourself?

With LEDs, you have an extra choice. As soon as new Caddies started coming with LED taillights, the aftermarket started scrambling. These lights were brighter than anything before, and they lit up so fast they looked like alien technology.

Even today, LED taillights are still a hot commodity; there are some really superior brands out there right now.

3rd Brake Lights

For some, a good LED third brake light conversion is something that's off the radar of lighting upgrades. That poor 3rd brake light is just hanging out on the back of your cab, lighting the bed and turning on when you step on the brake pedal. It's easy to overlook, but your factory 3rd brake light could be the difference between "ho-hum" and "Wow! Look at that!".

Replace it with a hot LED 3rd brake light. It lights up faster and brighter, so the driver behind you is treated to a great light show (and most importantly, they will have a clear warning of your braking intentions).

LED Steps

LED step bars, tube steps, nerf bars and LED hitch steps are all pretty recent additions to the truck accessory market. Typically, the bars feature a chrome or polished stainless steel finish and a bolt-on installation. The LEDs in step bars and nerf bars usually wire into your accessory lighting and can be on with your running lights, head lights or blink with your turn signals.

LED hitch steps simply fit into your 2" hitch receiver opening and plug into your trailer wires. They typically light up and serve as a fourth brake light, plus, it's a handy dandy step to help you reach items in your bed.
