2006 Carlisle All Truck Nationals

Part 1

There were many great things happening at the event. There were monster trucks that put on a small show and one was even set up to give people rides. Ever ride in a truck that jumps over cars? You should...

A hot event at the show was the burnout contest. The person who makes the most smoke (and ruins their tires the most) goes home with the prize. We even got a few pictures of burnout contest casualties as they drove away. (Burnout contest pics in Carlisle All Truck Nationals, Part III.)

The truck show also showcased a sled pull (some call it a tractor pull or a truck pull) for those diesel haulers at the fairgrounds. The field was dominated by burly Dodges with Cummins oil burners, but the Ford Powerstroke and Chevy Duramax guys gave them a real run for their money. A smaller event that drew in a crowd of wide-eyed onlookers was the freestyle motorcross demonstration. It's amazing what you can do with a couple of ramps, a dirt bike, and no little voice in your head screaming "THIS IS A BAD IDEA!!!" With eyes focused in amazement, attendees witnessed famous aerial tricks with names like "Magnum", "Superman", and "Look, Ma, No Hands!" Also huge at the event was the rock crawling field. Attendees could take their truck or jeep and attempt to navigate their way across a boulder infested pile of rocks. Though most drivers had a great time forging the huge rock pile, a few of the less-experienced off-roaders found themselves stranded. But with the aid of some construction equipment, a few helping hands, and a whole pile of red faces, the appreciative drivers found themselves back on level ground. All in all, the weekend was a huge success and fun was had by all.
